LaCaria’s work explores paradox  - the idea that two opposing realities can exist at the same time - with a focus on themes based in gender, sexuality, social structure, class systems, body politics and relationships, often presented in an Abstract Expressionist aesthetic.

"Creating my art is an intuitive process. It involves my entire body as I move with the paint brush, ink bottle or conte stick across the surface of the canvas. I force my thoughts to come through my hands in order to free my mind. This is my art, it is what taking one step at a time looks like on canvas."
